
Recently, China Southern Power Grid Guangdong Power Grid Company, China Mobile, Leju Intelligence, and Beijing Academy of General Artificial Intelligence jointly released the first application demonstration of embodied intelligent robot for power grid inspection based on 5G-A network.
Core Breakthrough: 1:1 Motion Reproduction Enables High-Voltage Operation
This robot can accurately reproduce the movements of remote operators at a 1:1 ratio and has successfully operated the 110kV interval control cabinet, marking a key breakthrough in the integration of 5G-A and robot technology in core industrial scenarios.
5G-A Network: Three Core Capabilities Empower Stable Operation
The core support for this application lies in the three major capabilities of the 5G-A network. First is its wide coverage and high stability. The demonstration scenario has achieved full-area coverage of 5G-A signals, ensuring seamless switching of the robot’s network connection when moving between indoor screen cabinets and outdoor equipment areas, and guaranteeing the continuity and integrity of the inspection path.
Second is its advantage of large uplink capacity and high data rate. Equipped with high-definition robot vision cameras on its head and wrist, the robot captures detailed images of instrument panels, switch states and surrounding operating environments, and transmits these visual data and key operational information in real time. The 5G-A uplink enhancement technology jointly developed by Huawei and China Mobile provides a stable uplink rate of 10-20 Mbps, allowing operation and maintenance personnel to obtain ultra-high-definition first-person perspective images with the help of VR equipment, and clearly observe every detail captured by the robot vision camera to make accurate operation judgments.

Most importantly, it boasts low latency and high reliability. When operating the 110kV interval control cabinet and testing the electricity of the 10kV feeder cabinet, the millisecond-level low latency of 5G-A ensures that the robot reproduces movements without delay, isolating personnel from the danger of high-voltage electricity.
