In the just-concluded 2025, facing the complex domestic and international market environment, China’s agricultural machinery industry maintained a development momentum of “steady progress with quality improvement”. According to data released by the China Agricultural Machinery Industry Association, the operating income of the agricultural machinery industry is expected to reach 260 billion yuan in 2025, a year-on-year increase of about 2%, marking two consecutive years of growth. However, the total profit dropped by 2.39% year-on-year, highlighting the operational pressure on enterprises.
Despite the severe market situation, the industry still witnessed numerous bright spots, among which the breakthrough in core technologies of hybrid agricultural machinery and the accelerated industrialization of new energy agricultural machinery have become a major industry highlight. In 2025, China made significant progress in the localization of key components such as hybrid power chassis, and products like hybrid tractors have gained global competitiveness.
According to data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, China has now developed a full range of hybrid tractors with horsepower ranging from 200 to 700. Hybrid tractors with 200-300 horsepower have been put into industrial application, while the prototypes of 600 and 700 horsepower hybrid tractors have been developed and are undergoing field tests. Additionally, the hybrid grain combine harvester with a feeding rate of 10kg/s, 2-row hybrid cotton picker and hybrid sugarcane harvester have completed prototype finalization and launched small-batch trial sales.
It is believed that under the guidance of the dual national goals of the “Dual Carbon” Strategy and the construction of smart agriculture, the development of domestic new energy agricultural machinery toward high-end, large-scale and intelligent upgrading will further accelerate, bringing new growth drivers to the agricultural machinery market.
