It also ranks second globally in the action camera market. In fact, Insta360 had previously launched external panoramic cameras for other drone products. The development path of many technological products is from external attachment to integration, and Insta360’s current layout is also in line with this trend.
However, Insta360 will face strong competitors in the drone market. In the consumer drone sector, DJI holds a 70%-85% global market share, and it is almost monopolistic in major markets such as North America, Europe, and Asia. In particular, its share in the domestic consumer drone market exceeds 90%.
DJI has built deep technical barriers and brand advantages relying on mature technologies such as flight control, image transmission, and obstacle avoidance.
But Insta360 is not without a chance of success. It has accumulated certain experience in image algorithms, image transmission algorithms, and CMOS technology. These technical capabilities are expected to be transferred to drone products, bringing users a unique imaging experience.
It is worth continuing to pay attention to whether Insta360 can gain a share in the DJI-dominated market by virtue of its technical advantages and innovation capabilities after entering the drone market.
