Guide: According to media reports, iFlytek’s newly upgraded Spark Large Model X1 now supports more than 130 languages, among which the comprehensive performance in core languages such as Arabic, German, French, Korean, and Japanese surpasses that of GPT-4.1.
On July 29th, it was reported that at the recently held International Academic Seminar on iFlytek’s High-Level and High-Quality Multilingual Base Large Model, Liu Cong, Dean of iFlytek Research Institute, announced that the latest upgraded Spark Large Model X1 supports over 130 languages. Among them, the comprehensive performance in core languages like Arabic, German, French, Korean, and Japanese has surpassed GPT-4.1.
Based on technological innovations such as mixed-language routing, the Spark speech large model has achieved high-precision speech recognition for 100 languages (with overall performance better than Whisper V3) and speech synthesis technology for 55 languages, whose naturalness and fluency are at the leading level in the industry.
Liu Cong further revealed that the research and development of iFlytek Spark multilingual large model will focus on three directions: first, promoting the integration of “speech + text” multimodal data to break the semantic barriers between different modalities; second, building a native multilingual speech large model base to strengthen the model’s underlying understanding of the global language ecosystem; third, developing cross-language knowledge transfer technology to realize knowledge sharing between languages through improved generalization ability, providing core support for global AI applications.
At present, iFlytek’s multilingual technology has served 120 million intelligent devices of Chinese enterprises such as Huawei, BYD, and Haier, covering 23 languages, and has achieved large-scale implementation in regions such as Africa and Southeast Asia, becoming a key technical guarantee for the global expansion of “Made in China” intelligent products.
In terms of technical ecology, iFlytek has opened 813 AI capability interfaces to 530,000 developers worldwide, among which 272 are specifically designed for multilingual needs, covering core scenarios such as speech recognition, machine translation, and cross-language interaction, continuously promoting global AI technology collaboration and innovation.
