Dongjie Intelligent Control (Shanghai) Technology Co., Ltd. is a joint venture established by Shanghai Mechanical & Electrical Co., Ltd. (a subsidiary of Shanghai Electric) and Johnson Automotive Electric Co., Ltd., focusing on the core technologies of complete joint modules for humanoid robots.
On July 26, coinciding with the opening of the 2025 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC), the unveiling ceremony of Dongjie Intelligent Control (Shanghai) Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Dongjie Intelligent Control”) was held in Changning District. The company, a joint venture between Shanghai Mechanical & Electrical Co., Ltd. (a subsidiary of Shanghai Electric) and Johnson Automotive Electric Co., Ltd., is located in “Shanghai Silicon Alley” in Changning District, specializing in the core technologies of complete joint modules for humanoid robots. Zhang Wei, Secretary of the Changning District Party Committee; Liu Ping, Deputy Secretary of the Changning District Party Committee and District Mayor; Wu Lei, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Shanghai Electric Group; Zhu Zhaokai, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Shanghai Electric; and Wang Suichung, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Johnson Electric, attended the unveiling ceremony.
Zhang Wei extended warm congratulations on the establishment and unveiling of Dongjie Intelligent Control. He pointed out that this deepened cooperation with Shanghai Electric and the first cooperation with Hong Kong-based Johnson Electric are expected to see the three parties work together to promote Dongjie Intelligent Control in cultivating innovation chains, linking industrial chains in Changning District, exerting a driving and radiating effect, and actively building a dynamic and competitive industrial ecosystem for humanoid robots. “Shanghai Silicon Alley” Science and Innovation Block, where Dongjie Intelligent Control is located, is a three-dimensional science and innovation space built by Changning District. It is hoped that this cooperation will serve as an opportunity to carry out more in-depth cooperation with Shanghai Electric in urban renewal, promoting the transformation of inefficient and idle spaces and better supporting urban renewal and development.
Liu Ping introduced the basic situation of Changning District. He stated that as a window for Shanghai’s opening-up, Changning District has always been committed to creating a first-class business environment featuring marketization, rule of law, and internationalization, and is determined to serve as a “golden shop assistant” to help enterprises achieve long-term development in the district. Meanwhile, Changning District will take the construction of “Shanghai Silicon Alley” as a starting point to empower enterprise technological innovation, actively build platforms, and promote in-depth cooperation and collaborative innovation between Shanghai Electric and universities, research institutions, and upstream and downstream enterprises in the district, so as to drive high-quality industrial development through this joint effort.
Wu Lei noted that this cooperation is a specific action taken by Shanghai Electric and Changning District to jointly implement the decisions, arrangements, and instructions of the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government. It is an important symbol of launching a new round of district-enterprise cooperation and a significant milestone in deepening a new round of joint venture cooperation with Johnson Electric. It is hoped that Dongjie Intelligent Control will benchmark against “specialized, refined, characteristic, and novel” standards and achieve high-quality industrial development through the joint efforts of the three parties.
The ceremony was hosted by Zhao Yongzun, Deputy District Mayor of Changning District. More than 30 people attended, including responsible persons from relevant functional departments and sub-districts/towns such as the General Office of the Changning District Party Committee and the General Office of the District Government, as well as responsible persons from enterprises including Shanghai Electric and Johnson Electric.
