Robots monitor road anomalies, identify traffic violations, and conduct real-time voice persuasion… Starting this year, to build a modern traffic control model featuring “intelligent patrol + rapid response”, the Shenzhen Traffic Police have launched a trial operation of two types of intelligent traffic management robots — quadruped robots and wheeled patrol robots, which are piloted on the Shenzhong Corridor and key road sections in Futian District respectively.
Quadruped Robots Excel in Emergency Disposal
As a transportation hub connecting the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Shenzhong Corridor and the long tunnel sections in Shenzhen see heavy traffic flow, posing high requirements and great difficulties for emergency disposal. The quadruped robots deployed by the Shenzhen Traffic Police here have become “mobile patrol officers” for tunnels and expressway sections with their flexible and maneuverable features, enabling daily patrols and real-time monitoring.
Prompt Persuasion for Illegal Parking
Targeting illegal acts such as abnormal road parking, quadruped robots can issue warnings and persuasion to car owners through directional voice broadcast, guiding them to leave in a timely manner and effectively avoiding potential safety hazards caused by road occupation and parking.
Preliminary Disposal of Traffic Accidents
Equipped with the function of automatic identification of traffic accident anomalies, quadruped robots can link with the background command center to initiate the preliminary disposal process at the first time, conduct real-time remote dialogue with the drivers of accident vehicles, and guide them to wait in the nearest safe area;simultaneously trigger the police force dispatch mechanism to accurately send police to the scene for disposal;and automatically initiate a tow truck call instruction, efficiently connecting the entire chain of accident disposal and helping to realize the rapid handling of traffic accidents and the quick restoration of road traffic order.
Dynamic Monitoring of Abnormalities
Equipped with infrared heat source sensors, quadruped robots can timely detect emergency fires such as vehicle spontaneous combustion, and transmit on-site images and data back to the command center in real time, striving for precious time for subsequent rescue work.
Wheeled Patrol Robots Precisely Regulate Illegal Parking
Combined with the regional characteristics of Futian District, where core business districts and transportation hubs are concentrated and the problem of illegal vehicle parking is prominent, wheeled patrol robots have been put into service on Hongli Road, becoming a “versatile hand” for road order control.
Intelligent Identification of Vehicle and Personnel Status
Through intelligent algorithms, wheeled patrol robots can judge whether there are people in illegally parked vehicles, realizing differentiated disposal of such vehicles.If people are detected in the vehicle, the voice interaction function will be activated immediately to conduct real-time dialogue with the driver, clearly inform them of the violation and guide them to park in a nearby parking lot in a standardized manner;if no one is in the vehicle, it will automatically link with the background system and send violation prompts and departure requirements to the car owner via SMS, realizing a closed-loop management of “gentle persuasion for occupied vehicles, precise notification for unoccupied ones”.
360° Violation Capture
Wheeled patrol robots are equipped with 7-channel HD cameras, lidar and “Iron Eye” devices, which can comprehensively identify illegal acts such as illegal parking and road occupation loitering, realize precise evidence collection and automatic reporting, and form a joint control force with the patrol of traffic police motorcycle units, effectively curbing the chaos of illegal parking.
AI-empowered Automatic Patrol
Relying on AI intelligent algorithms, wheeled patrol robots can conduct automatic patrols on designated road sections and actively avoid pedestrians and other obstacles during driving, ensuring safe and standardized operation.With the support of video recognition technology, they can accurately identify illegal parking acts, and then transmit HD images back to the command platform in real time through real-time transmission technology, thus realizing automatic patrol and identification of illegal acts.
The commissioning of intelligent robot equipment is an important practice of the Shenzhen Traffic Police’s traffic management strategy of “empowering with technology” and “persuasion first, punishment later”. The police strive to use robots to dissuade the first attempt of illegal parking to maintain good road order. The Shenzhen Traffic Police will also continuously optimize the intelligent patrol plan and expand the scope of application, allowing scientific and technological achievements to better serve road traffic safety and smoothness, and inject new impetus into building a modern and intelligent “Shenzhen Model” of traffic management.
