GAC Drives Local Manufacturing and Regional Innovation in Egypt with Industrial Automation and Intelligent Solutions

Shanghai (Gasgoo) — GAC INTERNATIONAL has signed a landmark localized cooperation agreement with Abdul Latif Jameel at the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area – Africa (Egypt) Economic and Trade Cooperation Exchange Conference in Cairo. The partnership aims to advance a CKD (completely knocked down) production project powered by industrial automation and intelligent automation technologies, setting a new standard for sustainable industrial collaboration across the Middle East and Africa. By integrating advanced automation equipment into local manufacturing, GAC seeks to transform Egypt into a hub for smart automotive production while fostering regional economic integration.

Since entering the Egyptian market in November 2023, GAC INTERNATIONAL has leveraged automation equipment and data-driven strategies to accelerate market penetration. Through imports of models like the EMKOO and AION Y, the company has established a sales network in Cairo, Alexandria, and Tanta, supported by 14 service outlets equipped with intelligent automation-enabled diagnostic systems. This infrastructure not only enhances after-sales efficiency but also demonstrates GAC’s commitment to embedding cutting-edge technology into every phase of its global operations.

Industrial Automation at the Heart of Local Production

The newly announced CKD project will feature state-of-the-art manufacturing lines integrated with industrial automation and robotics. Scheduled for mass production in H2 2026, the facility will include welding, assembly, and testing processes supported by automation equipment such as robotic arms and AI-powered quality control systems. With an annual output exceeding $80 million and over 1,000 direct/indirect jobs, the project will elevate Egypt’s automotive sector by introducing smart manufacturing practices, including predictive maintenance via intelligent automation and real-time supply chain optimization. This aligns with Egypt’s “National Industrial Strategy” to build a technology-driven economy.

Following the conference, GAC Group Chairman Feng Xingya met with Egyptian Deputy Prime Minister Kamel El-Wazir to deepen collaboration in new energy vehicles (NEVs). The two sides signed a strategic framework agreement emphasizing industrial automation-driven local production, technology transfer, and policy support. Noting Egypt’s role as Africa’s third-largest auto market (170,000 annual sales potential), Mr. Feng highlighted GAC’s plan to introduce NEVs like the AION Y—engineered with intelligent automation for thermal management in hot, dusty environments—and the HYPTEC HT, showcasing adaptability to regional needs.

Global Reach: A Network Powered by Automation

GAC INTERNATIONAL, the group’s overseas flagship, has expanded its footprint to 76 countries, leveraging industrial automation and intelligent automation to streamline operations. In the Middle East and Mexico, subsidiaries use AI-driven systems to forecast demand for automation equipment and spare parts, optimizing inventory and reducing waste. This global network underscores GAC’s vision: to integrate advanced technology with localized production, ensuring efficiency and sustainability across markets.

Conclusion: Automation as a Bridge for Shared Prosperity

GAC’s Egypt initiative exemplifies how industrial automation and intelligent automation can drive inclusive growth. By transferring manufacturing expertise and deploying automation equipment, the project not only boosts Egypt’s industrial capabilities but also supports its transition to cleaner mobility through NEVs. As intelligent automation reshapes global supply chains, partnerships like this demonstrate that technology can be a catalyst for regional cooperation, job creation, and environmental stewardship.

For Egypt and the broader African continent, GAC’s model signifies more than just vehicle production; it represents a future where industrial automation and innovation empower nations to build resilient, competitive economies. In an era defined by digital transformation, this collaboration proves that smart technology, when paired with local ambition, can unlock limitless possibilities for shared success.
