Qualcomm X105 5G Modem Launched: Downlink Speed Up to 14.8 Gbps
     Qualcomm X105 5G Modem Launched

On the evening of March 2, Qualcomm officially launched the Qualcomm X105 5G Modem-RF System, a world-leading 5G Advanced platform equipped with the industry’s first 3GPP Release 19-ready modem, laying the foundation for 6G development and testing.

According to the official announcement, building on Qualcomm’s decades of leadership in connectivity, the Qualcomm X105 delivers significant improvements in data speed and power efficiency, while achieving breakthroughs in quad band Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) and integrated NRNTN support.

The 5th-generation AI processor integrated into the Qualcomm X105 uses on-modem agent AI to detect, classify, and optimize data traffic types based on user scenarios, enhancing the user experience in gaming, calling, and social media applications.

Specifically, the Qualcomm X105 platform builds on and extends Qualcomm Technologies’ expertise and heritage in modem and RF technology, introducing several industry-first features:

The first 6nm RF transceiver, reducing power consumption by up to 30% and footprint by 15% compared with the previous generation.

The first quad band (L1, L2, L5, L6) GNSS engine with multiconstellation support and improved positioning accuracy.

In satellite communication, the Qualcomm X105 takes a major leap forward, supporting video calls, video streaming, data, voice, and messaging via NRNTN.The Qualcomm X105 Modem-RF System achieves a breakthrough industry-leading downlink peak rate of 14.8 Gbps, while delivering up to 13.2 Gbps in the Sub 6GHz band.

To meet demand for greater uplink capacity and higher data rates, the Qualcomm X105 reaches an uplink peak throughput of 4.2 Gbps.

Built on an R19-ready architecture, the Qualcomm X105 Modem-RF System is designed to accelerate the wide adoption of 5G Advanced across smartphones, fixed wireless access, mobile broadband, automotive, XR, PCs, robotics, and industrial IoT.

Qualcomm stated that the strong momentum of 5G Advanced relies on robust ecosystem collaboration. Qualcomm Technologies is working closely with global operators, infrastructure vendors, OEMs, and standards and regulatory bodies to drive the global deployment of the Qualcomm X105 and future 6G technologies.

Samples of the Qualcomm X105 5G Modem-RF System are now shipping to customers, with commercial devices expected to launch in the second half of this year.
