Recently, Ursa Major, a U.S. aerospace and defense company, has purchased another 3 sets of AMCM M450-4FLX systems, expanding its investment in EOS metal additive manufacturing (AM) technology. This brings Ursa Major’s total number of EOS-powered metal AM systems to 6.<\/p>\n

The AMCM M450-4FLX system adopts the latest beam shaping technology (with the nLIGHT AFX laser, it can output seven types of light spots such as Gaussian and annular, and the beam shape can be switched on a millisecond scale). These fast and powerful devices are an addition to the previously purchased one AMCM M290-1FLX and two EOS M400 systems. All equipment will be deployed at Ursa Major’s factory in Youngstown, Ohio, reinforcing their commitment to scalable additive manufacturing in the United States.<\/p>\n

As the company expands its production capacity to meet the growing national security and aerospace needs, Ursa Major decided to cooperate with EOS because EOS has mature laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) industrial 3D printing technology, profound AM expertise, and a collaborative approach to driving the development of the AM industry.<\/p>\n

This partnership is not limited to industrial 3D printing hardware. Ursa Major collaborates with EOS and its AMCM team, leveraging EOS’s laser tool path API and EOS’s comprehensive engineering support to unlock software-driven customization and printing freedom, which is aligned with Ursa Major’s advanced in-house capabilities.<\/p>\n
