The Era of Robots “Truly Working” Begins: 2025 World Robot Expo Unveils New Machines

When “Tiangong 2.0” appeared on the opening ceremony stage as a host, when UBtech Walker S2 completed battery replacement independently, and when Yuejiang Robot simultaneously completed precision assembly and part sorting… the era of robots “truly working” has begun!

  • Global Tech Feast Kicks Off: Elites in Robotics Gather to Explore Intelligent Frontiers

From August 8th to 12th, the 2025 World Robot Expo was held at the Beiren Yichuang International Convention and Exhibition Center in Beijing Economic and Technological Development Zone. This technology event, themed “Making Robots Smarter, Making Embodiment More Intelligent”, successfully attracted robot manufacturers, research institutions, industry experts, and technology enthusiasts from around the world.

  • From the 2025 World Robot Expo, Intelligent Manufacturing Network has insight into new breakthroughs in the robotics industry!

  • Technological Breakthroughs: From Precision Limits to Cluster Revolution

The Q-series humanoid robots developed by the Institute of Automation of the Chinese Academy of Sciences became one of the focuses of this expo. The Q5 robot achieves an assembly precision of 0.1 mm and can complete high-difficulty operations such as flexible cable plugging, wrench hanging, and apple picking. The research team revealed that the sixth-generation Q-series will adopt a lighter robotic arm design to enhance load capacity, meeting the application needs in industrial and agricultural fields.

UBtech Walker S2’s autonomous battery replacement system enables 3-minute quick charging, supporting “7×24-hour uninterrupted operation”. Under the scheduling of the Group Brain Network 2.0 system, 11 Walker S2 robots collaborated with unmanned vehicles to complete the entire process of “warehousing – sorting – handling”, which is simply amazing!

A team from Chengdu launched the world’s first electronic skin sensor, achieving a major technological breakthrough in the field of tactile perception. Its force measurement precision can reach 0.005N, capable of sensitively detecting the pressure generated by a feather’s touch. This technological breakthrough enables robots to grasp fragile items precisely, removing technical obstacles for application scenarios such as medical care and precision manufacturing.

Unitree’s newly launched R1 humanoid robot has a price reduced to 39,900 yuan and possesses high-dynamic movement capabilities such as somersaults and boxing, further promoting the popularization of consumer-grade robots.

  • In addition, the highly anticipated star robot “Tiangong 2.0” appeared on the opening ceremony stage as a host, demonstrating its ability to walk continuously for hours.

  • Scenario Implementation: From Showy Performances to Real “Work”

The biggest difference from previous editions is that the core theme of this year’s concurrent exhibition is “Can robots truly work?” At the exhibition site, manufacturers set up real scenes such as store shelves, warehouse sorting lines, and factory production lines at their booths to demonstrate the possibility of robots “taking jobs”.

In the logistics field, two L7 robots from Xingdong Era cooperated tacitly: one was responsible for intelligently sorting packages, accurately grabbing and classifying them according to size, shape, and weight; the other specialized in intelligent code scanning. It is reported that the system adopts an independently developed end-to-end VLA model, which can quickly master operating skills with a small amount of data without pre-programming.

In the field of medical and health care, Fourier GR-3 medical rehabilitation robot uses skin-friendly materials and is designed in a “Baymax”-style cartoon shape, planning to be applied in cognitive training and publicity guidance scenarios in rehabilitation hospitals. Gu Jie, CEO of Fourier, pointed out that medical care is a huge application scenario, and health care is only a branch of it. The company will gradually transform the robot’s capabilities into “rigid needs” in specific scenarios.

In addition, the DOBOT Atom Ⅱ humanoid robot released by Yuejiang Technology demonstrated multi-scenario adaptability. Its left hand can tighten the robotic arm bearing to a tolerance of 0.1 mm, while the right hand simultaneously sorts parts; at the drink stall, it can sense the weight of the cup through fingertip sensors and gently make lemon tea; it can even independently decide the order of adding ingredients for clay pot rice. The audience exclaimed: “It’s just like an employee!”

  • Future Outlook: The Development Path of Robots Gradually Becomes Clear

The expo released “Top 10 Development Trends of Embodied Intelligent Robots in 2025” and “Top 10 Potential Application Scenarios of Humanoid Robots in 2025”, providing a clear development path for the industry.

The top 10 potential application scenarios of humanoid robots include: general industrial operations, automobile manufacturing, 3C manufacturing, shipbuilding, petrochemical industry, power production, safety emergency, commercial services, home services, and agricultural production. This provides a clear direction for technological research and development and commercial implementation.

Xu Xiaolan, President of the Chinese Institute of Electronics, emphasized that humanoid robots will first be deployed in professional scenarios such as 3C manufacturing material quality inspection, power station operations, ship polishing, and safety emergency rescue. “First take jobs, then enter homes” is a realistic path for the popularization of robots.

Conclusion:

At present, the robotics industry is undergoing a key transformation from “visible” to “usable”. At the exhibition site, the founder of Songyan Power personally “kicked” his own robot to test its stability. The kicked robot could still continue to walk after being by the staff – this seems to be a metaphor for the entire industry.

When Unitree R1 completes a somersault, when UBtech Walker S2 replaces the battery independently, and when Yuejiang Robot simultaneously completes precision assembly and part sorting… the historical wheel of the robotics industry has irresistibly rolled into a new era of “truly working”.
