Fourier Launches New Humanoid Robot GR-3: Soft-Wrapped Interior, Focusing on Interactive Companionship

Fourier’s full-size humanoid robot Care-bot GR-3 defines two core directions for future robots: social companionship, which focuses on human-robot emotional connection and is applicable to public spaces and educational environments; and auxiliary caregiving, which extends service functions based on emotional companionship, covering professional scenarios such as mobility assistance, health monitoring, and rehabilitation training.

On August 6th, according to media reports, Fourier Intelligence officially released its first full-size humanoid robot Care-bot GR-3, which focuses on interactive companionship and features “touchable” characteristics.

On the basis of ensuring core functions, this product deeply integrates the attribute of emotional companionship, and defines a new “Care-bot” concept by enhancing emotional presence and interactive experience.

GR-3 clarifies two core directions for future robots: social companionship, which focuses on human-robot emotional connection and is suitable for public spaces and educational environments; and auxiliary caregiving, which extends service functions on the basis of emotional companionship, covering professional scenarios such as mobility assistance, health monitoring, and rehabilitation training.

In the future, GR-3 will enter rehabilitation institutions, nursing homes and other places to provide precise services such as chronic disease care and daily life assistance.

GR-3 adopts Morandi warm color matching, supercar-level interior wrapping materials, and safe and environmentally friendly “GFOAM” soft-wrapped interior, bringing users a soft and approachable visual and tactile experience.

In terms of appearance design, it integrates brown smart eyes, soft facial curves, a rounded and moderate height proportion, and gentle and natural body language to create a relaxed, smart, and approachable robot image.

In terms of body structure, GR-3 is 165cm tall and weighs 71kg, with up to 55 degrees of freedom throughout the body, supporting more anthropomorphic 肢体 expressions. The battery system of GR-3 adopts a dual-battery hot-swappable architecture, and realizes seamless switching between the two batteries through a dynamic energy allocation system, with a single-charge battery life increased to 3 hours.

GR-3 is equipped with Fourier’s self-developed full-sensory interaction system, which integrates three modules: auditory, visual, and tactile, and realizes more natural and anthropomorphic emotional interaction through coordinated feedback.

In terms of auditory perception, GR-3’s head is equipped with 4 microphone arrays, which eliminate echoes through omnidirectional sound collection. When interaction is activated, it can directionally enhance the sound source, accurately capture the direction of the sound source and turn the head, and cooperate with eye interaction to achieve more intelligent auditory feedback.

In terms of visual recognition, GR-3 has a built-in camera module with structured light + RGB wide-angle lens, which can achieve accurate face recognition; combined with a dynamic tracking system, GR-3 can adjust the head angle and direction in real-time to ensure that the user is always within the field of vision, creating a more delicate one-on-one communication experience.

In terms of tactile feedback, a total of 31 tactile sensor arrays are distributed on GR-3’s head and trunk, which can sense touch in real-time and make feedback. Combined with the dynamic design of the eyeballs and anthropomorphic body movements, physical contact becomes an extension of emotional communication.

GR-3 is equipped with Fourier’s self-developed high-performance integrated actuator and 12-degree-of-freedom dexterous hands, meeting the motion control needs of daily interaction, tour guidance, companionship and other scenarios; the standard walking gait can simultaneously complete actions such as bending down and squatting during walking, providing the possibility for the robot to move flexibly and perform complex operations in a complex three-dimensional space.

In addition, it can also realize various anthropomorphic walking postures such as straight-leg walking, swaying gait, and small-step trotting; when the battery is low, it can present a “tired mode” by adjusting the step frequency and center of gravity.

In terms of developer experience, GR-3 optimizes the development framework and supports server-client architecture algorithm development, making it convenient for robot scholars, industrial automation engineers, and AI software developers to get started quickly, efficiently customize various applications, and promote technological innovation.
