CLAAS Upgrades Baler Assembly Capacity at Metz Plant in France, Strengthening Global Business Foundation

Following the opening of its new prototype workshop last year, CLAAS has recently put two brand-new assembly lines into official operation at its baler factory in Metz, France. This strategic investment provides important support for the mass production of the new-generation baler series and lays a solid foundation for the future development of the Metz plant.

 

Long-Term Commitment to France and the Grand Est Region

 

With a total investment of 3.3 million euros, the project reflects CLAAS’s firm commitment to the long-term development of the Metz plant, demonstrates the company’s close ties with the local community, and marks another important milestone in the plant’s 65-year history.

 

Mrs. Cathrina Claas-Mühlhäuser, Chairwoman of the Shareholders’ Committee of CLAAS Group, stated:“Balers are part of the core DNA of CLAAS as a century-old family-owned enterprise. Metz is our baler production base, and France is one of our most important markets. This investment is a promise to the future, as well as our strong support for the development of the Metz region and France as a whole.”

Baler production is one of CLAAS’s core businesses, with more than a century of technological accumulation – from the Knotter tying system, VARIANT round balers, to ROLLANT round balers and QUADRANT large square balers, each milestone has driven the progress of the industry.

Modernization of Assembly Lines

 

Key elements of this investment include:adding 1,800 square meters of assembly space,optimizing the U-shaped assembly line layout,expanding the square baler assembly line,building a large-scale equipment test chamber,upgrading heating and lighting systems,renovating assembly floors and coated metal structures,installing ergonomic workstations,and reserving space for future automation.

 

Integrating a century of industrial tradition with modern technological capabilities, the Metz plant produces a full range of round and square balers to meet the diverse needs of customers worldwide.
