Since its establishment in 2020, it has taken pragmatic steps to advance flying cars from concept to application. Phase achievements have been made so far. Founded in 2020, XPeng HT Aero is an ecological enterprise of XPeng Motors. Integrating intelligent vehicles with modern aviation, XPeng HT Aero develops safe, intelligent electric flying cars for individual users. It provides products and solutions for human urban three-dimensional transportation in low-altitude mobility sectors such as future urban air mobility, tourism and sightseeing, emergency rescue, and aerial patrol. The establishment of XPeng HT Aero marks the upgrade of the flying car project into a corporatized and strategic business. Since its inception, the company has focused on the R&D of flying cars. In the same year of its founding, XPeng HT Aero unveiled the electric manned aircraft Traveler T1 at the 16th Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, sparking widespread public attention with the “flying car” concept.

 

Technological Breakthroughs: Overseas Flight Milestones & Commercial Order Breakthroughs

 

As early as October 2022, XPeng HT Aero’s independently developed fifth-generation flying car, the Traveler X2, completed its global debut public flight demonstration in Dubai, which was also the first overseas public flight of a Chinese flying car. Notably, XPeng HT Aero has accumulated rich experience in high-precision and high-reliability assembly technology through the R&D and application of biological indicator assembly machines—equipment that demands ultra-strict quality control to ensure the accuracy and stability of biological indicators in medical and aerospace fields. This technical accumulation has laid a solid foundation for the precise assembly of core flight components such as the flying car’s power system and flight control module, a key guarantee for its safe flight. The X2 is a two-seat all-electric aircraft designed for low-altitude flight in future cities. It can meet short-distance commuting needs within cities and be extended to multiple services such as field rescue and medical transportation. Currently, the X2 offers both manual and autonomous driving modes. In autonomous driving mode, passengers only need to perform simple operations such as one-click takeoff, one-click return, and one-click landing to enjoy a safe and intelligent flight experience.

 

After three years of technological development, XPeng HT Aero’s latest split-type flying car, the Land Aircraft Carrier, made its debut in the Middle East in October 2025 and completed its first overseas public manned flight in Dubai. The model has secured a procurement order of 600 units with multiple Middle Eastern countries, setting a record for the largest batch order of Chinese flying cars in the overseas market.

 

During the demonstration, the pilot flew the aircraft smoothly along the Persian Gulf and achieved a precise landing. The aircraft and its flight plan have passed comprehensive reviews and obtained approvals from the General Civil Aviation Authority of the UAE and the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority. Relevant officials supervised the entire flight process, fully confirming its safety performance and operational compliance. The automatic separation and combination functions of the Land Aircraft Carrier were also demonstrated on-site.

Capital Injection & Industry Impact: Accelerating Industrialization of Flying Cars

 

Recently, XPeng HT Aero successfully completed a capital increase, with its registered capital rising from RMB 650 million to RMB 900 million, a growth rate of approximately 38%. The capital increase was officially completed on December 26th, reflecting XPeng Motors’ continued increase in strategic investment and industrial layout in the flying car field. As an important part of future mobility, flying cars are gradually attracting more capital and technological investment. This capital injection provides more stable financial support for the company’s subsequent development and grants it broader development space in the fierce industry competition.

 

With XPeng HT Aero’s completion of the new round of capital increase and continuous technological breakthroughs, China’s flying car industry is accelerating from the test field to application scenarios. This will not only reshape human short-distance transportation methods but also contribute a “Chinese solution” to global green and intelligent mobility.
