FRANKLIN LAKES, NJ\u2014BD is ramping up investments in its U.S. manufacturing network to expand capacity for essential medical devices, including syringes, needles, and IV catheters. As part of a $10 million-plus investment in 2024 aimed at scaling production, the company has installed new needle and syringe lines at its plants in Connecticut and Nebraska. One line is already fully up and running, with additional lines set to launch in the coming months.<\/p>\n

New Lines Drive Significant Output Gains, Support Job Growth<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

These new production lines will significantly enhance BD\u2019s domestic output:<\/strong> safety-engineered injection devices will see a more than 40% capacity increase, while conventional syringe production will rise by over 50%, adding hundreds of millions of units annually. To support this growth, BD has hired over 215 full-time employees at its Nebraska and Connecticut facilities.<\/p>\n

2025 Plans to Expand IV Line Production in Utah<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Looking ahead, BD plans to invest more than $30 million in 2025 to expand IV line manufacturing capacity at its Utah plant, fueling continued growth in catheter assembly production. This follows a 2024 investment of over $2 million in IV line upgrades, which already boosted annual IV catheter output by more than 40 million units.<\/p>\n

Domestic Network Reinforces Commitment to Local Supply Chains<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

With over 30 manufacturing and distribution facilities across 17 U.S. states and Puerto Rico, BD employs more than 10,000 people in its domestic network, reinforcing its commitment to strengthening local healthcare supply chains.<\/p>\n
