Siemens and NVIDIA “Once Again” Deepen Cooperation! Is an Industrial AI Operating System on the Horizon?
       Industrial AI Operating System

On January 6, 2026, Siemens and NVIDIA announced a significant expansion of their strategic partnership, with the core goal of jointly building an industrial artificial intelligence operating system. This initiative will deeply integrate AI into real-world industrial scenarios and reshape the end-to-end industrial value chain, covering all links including design, engineering, manufacturing, production, operation, and supply chain management.

NVIDIA will provide resources such as AI infrastructure, simulation libraries, models, frameworks, and blueprints. Leveraging its global leadership in accelerated computing and AI platforms, the company will deliver core computing power support for the implementation of AI in industrial settings.

Siemens, for its part, will deploy hundreds of industrial AI experts, along with cutting-edge hardware, software, industrial AI technologies, and profound technical and practical experience accumulated in industrial data processing. These inputs will infuse the cooperative project with extensive industrial scenario insights and implementation capabilities.

The complementary advantages of both parties will drive the large-scale application of AI in the industrial sector.

Roland Busch, President and CEO of Siemens AG, stated: “By joining hands to build an industrial AI operating system, we are redefining how the physical world is designed, built, and operated—thereby expanding the scope of AI applications and creating tangible impacts. Combining our strengths enables us to develop products faster using the most comprehensive digital twin technology, adjust production in real time, and accelerate the deployment of technologies from chips to AI factories.”

Jensen Huang, Founder and CEO of NVIDIA, also emphasized that this collaboration integrates world-leading industrial software with NVIDIA’s full-stack AI platform, which is expected to bridge the gap between creativity and reality.

This deepened cooperation focuses on four core directions, fully addressing the AI upgrade needs across the entire industrial landscape.

Accelerating the Full Industrial Lifecycle

The two parties will jointly develop AI-driven industrial solutions, aiming to establish the world’s first batch of fully AI-powered adaptive manufacturing bases. In 2026, the Siemens Electronics Factory in Erlangen, Germany, will serve as the first implementation blueprint. Through an “AI brain” that integrates software-defined automation, industrial operation software, and the NVIDIA Omniverse library, the factory will enable continuous analysis and virtual optimization of digital twins. Validated solutions will be rapidly translated into actual workshop operations, facilitating efficient decision-making from design to deployment. This will boost productivity, shorten commissioning time, and reduce operational risks simultaneously.

Currently, renowned enterprises including Foxconn, Hyundai Heavy Industries, KION Group, and PepsiCo have begun evaluating the relevant technical capabilities.

In addition, Siemens will complete GPU acceleration for its entire simulation product portfolio, fully supporting the NVIDIA CUDA-X library and AI physics models. With the help of NVIDIA PhysicsNeMo, it will advance generative simulation and build intelligent digital twins capable of real-time engineering design and autonomous optimization.

Advancing Electronic Design Automation (EDA)

The two parties will apply the logic of the industrial AI operating system to semiconductor and AI factories. Siemens will deeply integrate the NVIDIA CUDA-X library, PhysicsNeMo, and GPU acceleration technologies into its EDA product portfolio, focusing on breaking through three core links: verification, layout, and process optimization. The goal is to achieve a 2–10 times efficiency improvement in key workflows.

Meanwhile, the collaboration will add new features such as AI-assisted layout guidance, commissioning support, and circuit optimization. These features will significantly enhance engineering efficiency while meeting stringent manufacturing requirements. Driven by an AI-native engine, the integration of design, verification, manufacturing, and digital twin technologies will be deepened, shortening design cycles and improving product yield and reliability.

Building a Blueprint for the Next-Generation AI Factory

The two parties will jointly develop reusable standards for AI factory construction, balancing the power, cooling, and automation demands of high-density computing to achieve dual optimization of speed and efficiency. These standards will cover the entire lifecycle from planning and design to deployment and operation.

This blueprint will integrate NVIDIA’s AI platform roadmap, infrastructure expertise, partner ecosystem, and the simulation capabilities of the Omniverse library, along with Siemens’ core strengths in power infrastructure, electrification, grid integration, automation, and digital twins. It will accelerate the deployment of global industrial-grade AI infrastructure, improving energy efficiency and system resilience.

Optimizing Operations Through Shared Innovation

The two parties will take the lead in applying the jointly developed technologies in their own systems before promoting large-scale industry-wide adoption.

NVIDIA will evaluate Siemens’ products and solutions to optimize its own operational processes; Siemens will collaborate with NVIDIA to accelerate its workload processing and deeply integrate AI technologies into its customer-facing product portfolio.

Through mutual empowerment and self-optimization, both parties will provide customers with verifiable value cases and large-scale application models, driving the popularization and implementation of industrial AI technologies.

This deep cooperation between Siemens and NVIDIA is not only an integration of technologies and resources between two leading enterprises but also a milestone in the intelligent transformation of the industry. Amid the new wave of industrial revolution driven by generative AI and accelerated computing, the jointly built industrial AI operating system will break down the barriers between the digital and physical worlds. It will upgrade digital twins from passive simulation to active intelligence, bringing a more efficient, sustainable, and resilient development model to the manufacturing industry.

As the cooperation progresses, AI will fully permeate the entire industrial chain—from semiconductor design to smart factory operations, from product R&D to supply chain management. This will drive the global industry into a new stage of intelligent adaptability, creating greater value for various sectors.
